Maiskogel walks - Opposite the flats, on the other side of Hotel Toni, you will find Pichldorfl, where Pichlhofstrasse leads to Lederergasse, from where you can walk up to the Maiskogelweg (35). When we first took this way we made it a circular walk, but it is possible to walk up to the top of the Maiskogel. After walking up a wide track for a while, from where you can see spectacular views of snow covered mountain, you are lead into a path through a wooded area. On coming out of the wood you will find a rickety bench with great views over the Kaprun valley. As you carry on walking up you may even see a large horse grazing.

We also met a couple of small ponies at the farm and inn Weisssteinalm. Here we turned back downhill towards Kaprun.
